A HERITAGE centre run by volunteers in Cheadle has closed for good.
A temporary closure of Cheadle Discovery and Visitor Centre was announced last month.
Now Cheadle Discovery Group have confirmed the centre will not re-open in Lulworth House, High Street.
At an Annual General Meeting on Tuesday, May 15, the group agreed to continue without premises and is now seeking temporary locations for archives, displays and exhibitions.
First launched in 2012 as a year-long project to mark the bicentennial of Pugin, the Discovery Centre has been housed in Lulworth House free-of-charge for the last six years.
On April 26, the group announced a temporary hiatus in operations after its rooms within Lulworth House were let to a business.
Owner of the building, Stewart Bagnall, offered alternative accommodation on a free-of-charge basis, but following the AGM last week, the group agreed to decline his offer.
