ORGANIST and keyboard player, Carol Bradbury is encouraging people across Uttoxeter to put on their dancing shoes in support of the town’s Olympic hero Adam Peaty. Carol, known as ‘Twinklefingers’ has returned to Uttoxeter Town Hall to play musical accompaniment for the twice-monthly tea dances.
And she’s issued an open invitation to world-record breaking Olympic champion and swimming superstar, Adam Peaty, to join in the dancing fun as he prepares to take part in this year’s Strictly Come Dancing.
As well as performing at venues across Staffordshire, Carol has previously played at the iconic Blackpool Tower Ballroom – where the Strictly Come Dancing live episode is usually broadcast from.
However, limited space at the Blackpool Tower Ballroom meant that last year’s live episode couldn’t be filmed there due to Covid-19 distancing requirements, which has reportedly meant this year’s live episode will have to be filmed somewhere else.
The first episode of Strictly Come Dancing is expected to air later this month, and Adam’s fans across the Uttoxeter area are set to be avidly watching his moves on the dancefloor, hoping he can recreate his spectacular success at this year’s Tokyo Olympics.
And Adam shared with fans that he’s been getting in the Strictly spirit with a photo posted to Twitter captioned: ‘Think I got the wrong outfit @bbcstrictly’
Carol will be among those watching and is hoping Adam’s Strictly appearances will encourage more people to take up dancing at the Town Hall.
She said: “Everyone is looking forward to seeing Adam on Strictly, and we hope he might be at one of our dances.”
Dancing With Carol is on Thursdays between 2pm and 4pm, with admission being £4 per person.
The next dance is tomorrow (September 2), with further events on September 16, October 7 and 21, November 4 and 18, December 16 and 23.
