COMMUNITY leaders are calling for action on a road improvement scheme in Cheadle.
News that Staffordshire County Council has set aside £100,000 funding to help ease congestion in Tape Street was revealed in January.
The scheme is thought to include a plan to remodel the roundabout where the street connects with Ashbourne Road and Tean Road by the Lamplighter pub.
But no firm details of any scheme have yet been confirmed and town councillors are keen to find out exactly what the project might entail – and when it will go ahead.
Cllr Richard Alcock, who has been calling for highways improvements in Cheadle for a number of years, said this week: “There’s been a big problem at the approach to the roundabout where Tape Street connects with Ashbourne Road for a good while.
