Concerns have been raised over contractor vehicles using narrow back streets to transport large loads to a housing development. A resident, who lives in Cecilly Street in Cheadle and who wished not to be named, has contacted the Times & Echo with these pictures and their concerns over the large vehicle using the back streets of the area to, apparently, get to the new Bellway Homes development at Cecilly Brook, on the old JCB factory site in Oakamoor Road.

The resident said: “I got home at Cecilly Street today to Bellway using Cecilly Street as a rat run for the large JCB loadall to deliver full pallets of plasterboard to the built homes on Oakamoor Road.

On King Edward Street, the driver proceeded to drive all the way on the pavement to the cut through at Cecilly Street when he raised his load over the walls of the surrounding houses while taking the corner, presumably mostly blind, as he didn’t have a banks man with him.”

The resident added: “Kids play all the time in this area and in my opinion this was extremely dangerous.

Anything could have gone wrong taking this very tight corner. Also what damage are they doing to the pavement and road which is in terrible condition at the end of the terrace.”

The Times & Echo contacted Bellway Homes for a response to the resident’s concerns, but at the time of print, had not yet received any response.
