Worshippers welcome minister for special service
A CONGREGATION has stepped back to the 60s as it began a host of events to mark the 50th anniversary of their church.
Worshippers at Cheadle Methodist Church enjoyed a Golden Years of the 60s event earlier this month, looking back to the opening of the church in 1967.
Guests – including Mayor Cllr Philip Routledge and Mayoress Jeanette Routledge along with Cllr Ivor Lucas and his wife, Diane – enjoyed music from the decade along with quizzes, and a buffet.
The event was followed by a morning service on Sunday 21st May conducted by Rev David Watson, who has previously served as Minister at Cheadle Methodist Church.
The celebrations of the Golden Anniversary will continue with a Strawberry Tea on Saturday 24th June from 3pm to 5pm in the church hall.
Previous ministers at Cheadle, Rev Keith Jarvis and Rev Michael Parrott, will also hold special services at the church ahead of a special anniversary weekend in August.
