A newly formed music group has staged a concert in the Moorlands.

Teankulele, Tean’s recently created ukulele band, took to the stage at The Venue High Street in Tean at 7pm on Friday (April 8).

Dave Laws, who set up the new musical group, said: “In front of a packed audience the band provided two musical sets and there was also an Open Mic section including a rockabilly set by the Stray Dogs.

Janet and David Stubbs donated prizes and organised a raffle which raised £265 all of which will be donated to Ukrainian Disaster Fund.”

Audience member Anne-Marie Cheadle, who has recently moved to Tean, sent a letter of thanks to Teankulele for the evening.

In it she said: “Ian and I wanted to say a massive thank you again to you all for a wonderful evening.

We feel like we were really a part of something special tonight.

The room was full of laughter and friendship and the musicians were so professional.”

Anne-Marie added: “It’s the best night that we have had in ages and we look forward to many more.

Thank you for organising it and please pass our thanks to the group.”

Teankulele is available for a variety of events and is always on the look out for new members.

Dave said: “Teankulele has gone from strength to strength having only begun performing in October 2021.

At that time many members not only couldn’t play but did not own an instrument.

Come and see what dedication and practise can achieve in a few months.

We are always looking for new members, no experience necessary.”

Dave added: “Contact me or just turn up to our rehearsals every Sunday at 3pm at the Venue in Tean.

We are also available to perform at any local events.”
