Cheadle councillor Kate Martin has praised Staffordshire Police for their quick reaction in upping patrols at Tean Road Recreation Grounds in Cheadle recently.
This follows reports of anti social behaviour by a small group of young people on the Bowling Green at the site – including smoking cannabis and underage drinking.
Cllr Martin told the Cheadle & Tean Times: “We have had a small group of young people congregating on the Bowling Green on Tean Road Recreational Grounds in Cheadle.
“There has been an obvious issue of cannabis use and underage drinking.
“I want to praise the police as they have, since these reports, been covering the area more often.
“I am also going to be meeting up with representatives of Staffordshire Police to talk about them hopefully starting stop and searches at the site.”
Cllr Martin added: “I would like to add that the anti social behaviour has only been carried out by a small minority of the young people who use the rec.
“And I really do want to thank the local PCSOs for acting promptly to these concerns.”
The Cheadle & Tean Times contacted Staffordshire Police for a response to this matter but, at the time of going to print yesterday (Tuesday, April 19), we had yet to receive a reply from the force.
