Councillors consider plan to replace axed services

A COMMUNITY bus could be launched to replace axed routes serving in Blythe Bridge and Forsbrook.
First Potteries have revealed plans to scrap the key 6A service, which passes through the villages.
It will now terminate at the Coalville estate in Weston Coyney and no longer link with a service to Meir, Adderley Green and Longton.
But civic leaders could be ready to provide a replacement ‘community bus’ for villagers.
Parish council chairman Peter Jones said: “We don’t know if we’re losing the 6A altogether or if we’re just losing the Sunday service.
“All we know is this route is vital for links to surrounding towns and villages, so we need to be prepared for the worst.
“What we have now is the last remaining service on this route so we need to make sure our residents who use the buses, and have done for a long time, won’t be left stranded.”
The new initiative would be a local, voluntary-based service working on a district and parish council level.
