A PROJECT to create a community artwork celebrating the values of the Commonwealth has been hailed a huge success.
Seven schools worked together to make an outdoor mural which was unveiled in Cheadle’s Market Place on Friday.
Lead by The Cheadle Academy and Cheadle Town Council member, Dave Sargeant, the project saw six primary schools join the scheme to paint a panel each to form the overall artwork.
Teacher at The Cheadle Academy, Sarah Booth, came up with the idea while chatting to town council member and market trader, Cllr Dave Sargeant following the annual Commonwealth flag raising ceremony in March.
The pair enlisted the help of businesses and students to create the six mural panels and get them installed in the Market Place to be enjoyed by the public.
