A number of commemorative trees have been planted within a Moorlands parish.
Members of Checkley Parish Council have been out with their spades planting trees in the villages of Upper Tean, Lower Tean, Checkley, Hollington and Fole.
They have been planted to “acknowledge and offer thanks for the sacrifices” which have been made over the past year within the community.
A spokesman for Checkley Parish Council said: “As we are working our way through the roadmap out of the current pandemic it is looking increasingly likely that a good day is on the horizon.
“The parish council felt that now is the time to acknowledge and offer thanks for the sacrifices made by our communities during the pandemic and lockdown periods, to reflect and remember loved ones lost and to look forward to a brighter future.”
They added: “On Good Friday, the parish council, as a thank you to our communities, planted a flowering cherry tree in each of the constituent villages of the parish, Upper Tean, Lower Tean, Checkley, Hollington and Fole.
“It is hoped that the trees will offer a chance for quiet reflection and be a symbol of renewal and new beginnings each spring at blossom time.”
