CHEADLE Town are faced with a huge fixture backlog to clear before the end of their 2017-18 campaign in the Staffordshire County Senior League.
Hit by yet another postponement caused by the weather at the weekend, the Premier Division side find themselves faced with 16 fixtures to clear before the end of April – 17 if they win Saturday’s cancelled Staffs FA Vase semi-final against Redgate Clayton.
The club’s reserve team find themselves in a similar predicament with 12 games outstanding in their battle to avoid relegation from Division One.
“It’s going to be hard getting in all those games, but we’ll get through it, it’s the same for everyone.” said Alan Beaman, Cheadle’s director of football.
“Maybe the the answer is for the league get in more games at the start of the season, when the weather is better, making better use of clubs with floodlights.” he added.
