Marguerite steps down after thirty years with animal charity
AFTER more than three decades ensuring the finances of a much loved local animal charity add up the time has come for Margeurite to hang up her purse strings.
While running the financial side of Cheadle Animal Welfare Society for more than 30 years, Marguerite Beard, who lives in Blythe Bridge, has also held down a full-time job, run her family home and devoted hours to meticulously counting and banking money, paying the bills and keeping a close check on the accounts.
She was also involved in helping with many fund-raising events organised in support of the charity.
In recent years, her health has been failing and at the age of 80-years-old, she felt it was time to hand over the role to someone new.
Speaking in behalf of Cheadle Animal Welfare Society Margaret Russell told the Times and Echo: “Everybody is in agreement that she will be a hard act to follow, and will be greatly missed at the committee meetings.
“We wish Marguerite and her brother-in-law, Winston, who has been a great help to her, a long and happy retirement.”
