New plans for Remembrance Sunday

What now for town’s Area of Reflection?

THE future of the Area of Reflection planned for Uttoxeter’s town centre has been thrown into doubt after the incorrect permit was issued. Uttoxeter Town Council announced last week that work to create a permanent Area of Reflection around the town’s War Memorial and featuring the commemorative Bamford plaque, had been given the green light.

A JACKPOT win on a charity lottery has enabled a Uttoxeter grandmother to retire earlier than planned. Jane Woolley, aged 64, won £17,000 on the St Giles Hospice lottery in August, after the charity’s lotto game had rolled over for 17 weeks.

A LICENCE has been granted for work to start on creating an ‘Area of Reflection’ around Uttoxeter’s War Memorial. Uttoxeter Town Council debated the plans at a meeting on Tuesday, after receiving a letter from Staffordshire County Council warning the memorial plaque to Captain Bamford would be removed after this year’s period of Remembrance.
