Jail time for kidnap and stabbing

A Leek woman has been jailed for four years after being found guilty of kidnap, possession of a knife blade/sharp pointed article in a public place and dangerous driving. Katherine Beckham, aged 27, of Pickwood Road, Leek, was up in court on May 13 during the same hearing as Henry Parkhurst, aged 24, of HMP Dovegate, Draycott-in-the-Clay – both in relation to an incident in Newcastle-under-Lyme last year.

A teenager from Uttoxeter has tackled a 5km swimming challenge, as part of a five-year fund-raising campaign. Evelyn Fletcher, aged 16, first combined swimming and fund-raising by taking part in Swimathon 2018, and has taken part each year since.

The British Compressed Gases Association (BCGA), said people misusing nitrous oxide – also known as noz, balloons and laughing gas – were buying the gas in containers 70 times larger than previously.
