Petition calling for trained carers on school transport

An East Staffordshire mum has started a petition calling for trained carers to be placed on school transport for special educational needs students. Roxy Long, who lives in Uttoxeter with her seven-year-old son Freddie, has started the petition, set to be submitted to Staffordshire County Council, following concerns over treatment of her son while he was in a taxi being transported to Fountains School in Burton-upon-Trent.

Man sentenced after drugs discovered

A man has been sentenced after officers discovered over £2,500 worth of drugs and £1,350 in cash in East Staffordshire. Jacob Brook, aged 28 of Ashleigh Drive in Uttoxeter, was sentenced to 18-months imprisonment at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday, June 8, suspended for 24-months, after admitting possession with intent to supply a controlled drug of class B and driving a motor vehicle dangerously.

Illegal tobacco seized at retailers

Officers from Staffordshire County Council’s Trading Standards service, joined by Police and East Staffordshire Licensing officers, have made seizures of illegal tobacco. The raids, on Monday, June 6 at five independent retailers in East Staffordshire, resulted in seizures of 27,178 illegal cigarettes, 2.65kg of illegal hand rolling tobacco and 455 illegal disposable vapes. The haul has a retail value of around £17,500.
