Green flag award for town park

East Staffordshire Borough Council and volunteers are celebrating after receiving a Green Flag Award for a park in Uttoxeter. Bramshall Road Park has been awarded the status along with Stapenhill Gardens in Burton. The award is an international quality mark for parks and green spaces.

£1 million for regeneration in town centre

A council has agreed to allocate £1 million of Government funding to help regenerate a town centre. East Staffordshire Borough Council (ESBC), at it’s meeting yesterday morning (Tuesday, July 26), agreed to allocate £1 million of their share of the Government’s UK Shared Prosperity Fund for use in Uttoxeter, and they also agreed to allocate £750,000 towards a new Village Enhancement Programme for the borough.

An adventurous pensioner in East Staffordshire has abseiled down a tower to raise money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. Kay Harland, aged 93 from Doveridge, was planning on raising £1,000 for Alzheimer’s Research UK, a cause that is very close to her heart by abseiling down the Spinnaker Tower.

Fundraising groups across the area have joined forces to host a special event for the community. More than 400 people were entertained at Foxfield Railway in Blythe Bridge recently, thanks to Lions Clubs across the area. The event provided a great day out for children with SEND and their families.

A young woman is warning others to be careful when out and about in the Staffordshire Moorlands after she and her friend witnessed a man appearing in front of them on a popular scenic walk, completely naked and masturbating. Abigail Wildman, who lives in Uttoxeter, states that the incident happened on Thursday (July 14) in the Dimmingsdale area.

A JCB donation is proving just what the doctor ordered for Uttoxeter’s new First Responder emergency vehicle. The Rocester-based digger maker has kitted out the First Responder unit with a £1,500 defibrillator to enable the community lifeline to respond to emergencies across the Dove Valley area.

An artist has produced a calendar of paintings reflecting on Cheadle in the past. Alan Fernihough has been producing paintings of Uttoxeter, Cheadle, Ashbourne, Rocester and Alton for a few years now – with the aim of giving those who view his creations a ‘blast from the past.'
