ESCALATING vandalism is preventing businesses investing in Uttoxeter town centre, it has been claimed.
In a series of letters to Uttoxeter Town Council, a representative of MJ Barrett Developments has outlined on-going issues which have seen 80 per cent of metal hoardings at The Maltings damaged in recent weeks.
Youngsters damaging shop units climbing on roofs were cited among reasons the town is becoming ‘unattractive’ to new businesses.
Now, police, councillors, businesses and educators have joined forces to try and tackle the problem.
A ‘partnership’ meeting took place on Thursday last week after Uttoxeter Town Council agreed to invite a representative from the Barretts to a planned meeting with police.
Members also decided to invite representatives from East Staffordshire Borough Council and other agencies to look at the issue of vandalism in The Maltings and the wider town centre.
