Calling all artists and performers

Artists and performers across Leek and wider afield are being urged to come forward with their plans for this year's Leek Arts Festival - due to be staged in May after missing the past two years because of the pandemic. Artists and performers across Leek and wider afield are being urged to come forward with their plans for this year’s Leek Arts Festival – due to be staged in May after missing the past two years because of the pandemic.
Festival organisers have already lined-up a series of top name gigs – including Eddi Reader, Climax Blues Band and the ever popular Fairport Convention – for this year’s programme.
But they are now appealing for input from local artists and performers who would like to stage their own events as part of the festival in May.
Festival chairman Phil Edmeades said: “It’s great that we are back in action again, following the latest relaxation in Covid-19 restrictions.
We’re planning some big-name events, but we want to see lots of local artists putting on gigs and other events as part of the festival.
All that’s needed is for them to organise their event then let us have full details to include in the programme.”
Around 30,000 copies of the printed programme are set to be distributed to homes in the Leek and surrounding area in the run-up to the festival.
All events will also be featured in the Leek & Moorlands Echo, online at www.leekartsfestival.co.uk and on social media.
Tickets for major events organised directly by the festival committee are already on sale at Leek’s Foxlowe Arts Centre and via online links on the festival website.
Phil added: “The deadline for getting information to us is Friday, February 18.

We realise that’s pretty tight, but we need to get everything ready to go to the printers by the end of February.

Any events that miss the printed programme deadline will still be featured on the festival website.”
Event information for this year’s Leek Arts Festival should be emailed to philedmeades@gmail.com.

Anyone still holding on to tickets for the cancelled May 2020 Eddi Reader, Fairport Convention or  Boothby Graffoe gigs should return them to the point of purchase for a refund as they will not be valid for 2022 events.
