BLYTHE BRIDGE'S MARIE PRODUCES ANOTHER WINNING PERFORMANCE

BLYTHE Bridge’s Marie Astbury has beaten EBF Boxing Central Area Champion Sacha Smith from Leeds
After three action-packed rounds at the King’s Hall, Stoke, 45-year-old Marie gained a unanimous decision.
Marie said: “I felt really great in there, and enjoyed every minute in what could be my last fight”.
She added: ” I would like to thank all the people who have supported me over the years.”
Marie has raised over £700 again for the Peter Pan Special Needs Charity, based in Newcastle, which is very close to her heart.
Kickboxing and boxing champion Marie’s husband, boxing trainer Craig Astbury, 49, also had something to celebrate when he got to the quarter-finals of the WTF British National Taekwondo Championships in Manchester.
Craig lost out on a close decision against Martin Mullen from Premier Taekwondo GB.
He said: “Although I was pleased with my performance, I thought I had done enough to win, and go through to the semi’s.”
Craig trains at Stoke UTA Olympic Taekwondo under poomasae champion Peter Johnson, who is this week participating at the Canadian Taekwondo Open Championships in Montreal.
