Popular outdoor concerts are set to make a welcome comeback in a Moorlands town.
Leek Town Council is working in partnership with the Friends of Brough Park to bring back the outdoor concerts to the bandstand.
The musical interludes are set to be hosted every second and fourth Sunday of the month, from May through until September.
Leek’s Salvation Army Band will be starting off the programme of outdoor concerts for 2022.
Councillor Roy Molson said: “The Friends of Brough Park will be working with members of Leek Town Council, and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, to put on a series of concerts in the park.
“Planned for the second and fourth Sunday afternoons from May through until the end of September.
“The soon to be refurbished Victorian bandstand will be the venue for a whole range of entertainment, from brass bands, through to more contemporary music. With the accent on musicians from the local area.”
Cllr Molson added: “Local firms are helping with sponsorship to get the park ‘back on the map’ as a destination for all ages on sunny Sundays.
“It is hoped that local youth groups such as scouts, guides and cadets will also come along to help out by ‘meeting and greeting,’ sorting out the all important chairs as well as informing us about their work.”
The programme of bandstand concert is set to start with Leek’s Salvation Army Band on May 8, with Ashbourne Town Band visiting on May 22.
Further information can be found on the Leek Town Council website, social media and notice boards around the town.
