STAFF AT UTTOXETER STORE ORGANISE FUNDRAISING FUN DAY
WORKERS at a Uttoxeter store have banded together in support of a toddler who is currently undergoing potentially life-saving treatment in America.
Staff at Argos Uttoxeter rallied behind their co-worker Kim Ratcliffe, as she organised a fundraising fun day in support of her Godson, Dylan Alcock.
Dylan, from Tean, has just marked his third birthday in Jacksonville, Florida, where his parents, Anna and Karl have agreed to a pioneering treatment cited as possibly life-saving after doctors discovered a brain tumour in August.
Kim was among a host of family and friends who immediately kick-started a fundraising drive to pay for Dylan and his family to access the urgent treatment in Florida.
Dig Deep for Dylan is a family fun day which will be held at Great Wood Hall in Tean on Saturday, October 14.
The event will include a range of activities and stalls as well as a bouncy castle, pony rides and a raffle.
Kim said: “When Anna rang and told me his diagnosis, I was concerned about how they were going to fund everything – their two daughters are still here in the UK and they have to pay two lots of living expenses.
“The NHS funds some of it, but not all of it. My first thought was to do a cake stall, but it rapidly became something bigger.”
Kim’s colleagues at Argos pitched in with the fundraising effort, volunteering to run stalls and activities on the day as well as helping to sort out a variety of raffle prizes.
Joanne Croft, a paramedic with West Midlands Ambulance Service, is also helping organise the event, which will contribute towards supporting the young family in their hour of need.
Entry to the fun day is free and the fun begins from 10am on October 14.
Kim added: “It’s going to be a fantastic fun day out and all proceeds are going to Dylan. Please come along and bring everyone you know for a day of family fun.”
