Villagers in the Moorlands have been getting creative to take part in a fun community initiative.

The Draycott-in-the-Moors Scarecrow Festival 2022 took place recently and saw lots of imaginative creations.

One of the organisers of the Scarecrow Festival said: “Well, we had a most delightful time ambling the highways and byways of Draycott, Cresswell and Totmonslow seeing all our new scarecrow friends.

Thank you all for taking part and those who donated the prizes.

I hope everyone enjoyed seeing the scarecrows around the area.”

The winners were announced as:

First: Worzel Gummidge and Aunt Sally in New Avenue – £100 Amazon Voucher, sponsored by Embrace Financial Services.

Second: Cruella in Uttoxeter Road, opposite Golden Keg – £50 TravelCard by Inspire.

Third: Matilda in Creswell Old Lane – £40 Golden Keg Voucher.

Fourth: Spiderman in Uttoxeter Road – £15 meal voucher, The Draycott Arms.

Fifth: Oliver Twist in Stuart Avenue – Bottle of Whiskey.

Children’s Choice: Harry Potter in Uttoxeter Road £20 Book Token sponsored by Little Draytots.

Most Creative: The Mad Hatters Tea Party in Stuart Avenue – Handmade door wreath from Cottage Crafts.

All prizes were delivered to the winners by the village’s very own Knight of Draycott.
