Egg farmer’s dismay at honesty shop raid

AN honesty shop at a rural farm has been targeted by thieves amid the coronavirus pandemic. A roadside shop at Sam’s Hens, Croxden, was broken into during the early hours of Monday. The raiders stole a freezer full of ice cream as well as a cash box.

Care home’s thanks for support in lock down

‘OVERWHELMING’ support has been shown to a care home in Rocester during the coronavirus outbreak, bosses have said. Managers at Barrowhill Hall, a specialist dementia care and nursing home, thanked supporters after receiving donations of personal protective equipment (PPE) including masks and visors, together with hand-made laundry bags, hand creams and sanitisers, and treats for residents and staff.

Seven-year-old Alfie Pearson started planting sunflower seeds as part of a family lockdown activity with his mum Jessica and dad Mark. However, Alfie, who normally attends Cheadle Primary School, then wanted to share his gardening joy with others and has been leaving potted sunflower seeds out for his neighbours and other members of the community to collect and subsequently grow their own sunflowers.

Nancie-Mae’s loom band plan for NHS

A SIX-year-old from Uttoxeter has been raising funds for NHS staff and key-workers by selling home-made bracelets. Nancie-Mae Johnson has been making bracelets out of loom bands in a bid to support workers on the front line. So far she has raised more than £60 and - with help from mum Michelle Johnson-Plant - has posted her creations across the Midlands and even across the world.

A LANDLADY shaved off her hair as part of a fund-raiser for the NHS. Lisa Cowell, landlady at the Bagot Arms in Abbots Bromley, has raised more than £1,800 after shaving her locks off in lock down. Lisa sat on a stool outside the pub on Sunday as her son, James, shaved off her hair.
