Illegal tobacco seized at retailers

Officers from Staffordshire County Council’s Trading Standards service, joined by Police and East Staffordshire Licensing officers, have made seizures of illegal tobacco. The raids, on Monday, June 6 at five independent retailers in East Staffordshire, resulted in seizures of 27,178 illegal cigarettes, 2.65kg of illegal hand rolling tobacco and 455 illegal disposable vapes. The haul has a retail value of around £17,500.

Defib tribute to local music legend

A life-saving piece of equipment is to be installed at an iconic building and music venue in the Moorlands as a memorial to Leek born musician Chris Ellis who passed away earlier this year in Australia. Chris’s two sons, James, who also lives in Australia and Leek-based Richard decided that a great way to commemorate their father would be to install an automated external defibrillator (AED) at a local music venue.
