A 'RELENTLESS' drive to become a 'beacon of excellence' has been recognised by school inspectors. The Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) has graded The Cheadle Academy 'good' in all aspects following a recent inspection. Staff and pupils are celebrating the news, which follows the school's best ever results which were reflected in recent league tables placing the academy in the top 25 per cent of schools in the county.
The newly formed Sixth Form provision is ranked fourth in Staffordshire and Stoke.
The ‘good’ rating follows a major turn around in the last two years, after the school was labelled ‘inadequate’ by Ofsted in 2017, having previously been classed as ‘requires improvement’ following inspections in 2015 and 2013.
At the most recent inspection, officers said: “The headteacher and senior staff are relentless in their determination to make this school a beacon of excellence in the local community and provide the very best education for its pupils.
“Leaders have created a fully inclusive school, where pupils feel valued, supported and nurtured.”
Principal Neil Jamieson said: “I am really proud of our school and I am delighted that the Ofsted team saw what we see every day.
“We have a dedicated team of staff who strive to ensure all our students are the best they can be and our students are a credit to our academy.
“We will continue to embed all the fantastic work we have implemented over the last few years on our continued journey to becoming an ‘outstanding’ school.”
The Cheadle Academy is growing in size next year, but still has a few remaining spaces in both the school and Sixth Form College.
