OFFICERS RESPOND TO BREAKDOWN

POLICE officers from Cheadle escaped with their lives after a lorry ploughed into the back of their patrol car.
The officers, who have not been named, were responding to a breakdown when the crash happened on the A50 trunk road at around 2pm on Saturday.
They were in a Mitsubishi L200 pick-up truck and had pulled in behind a broken down Vauxhall Corsa on the eastbound carriageway between the Grindley Lane junction and Draycott island.
The officers had just left the truck when a Renault articulated lorry crashed into the back of it, flipping it on to its side.
