THE A50 is to be closed for a weekend while an old bridge is demolished and removed.
The dual carriageway – which is a main route between Derby and Stoke-on-Trent – will be closed between Uttoxeter and Blythe Bridge at the end of the month.
The works are part of a multi-million pound plan to improve the junction of the A50 and the A522 road which connects Uttoxeter and Cheadle via Tean.
A new bridge at the junction is already in place and the demolition of the old bridge is planned for the last weekend of September.
The A50 will be completely shut in both directions from the A521 roundabout at Blythe Bridge to the B5030 McDonald’s roundabout at Uttoxeter from 8pm on Friday, September 28 to 5.30am on Monday, October 1.
The project is being delivered by Staffordshire County Council on behalf of Highways England.
