DUCK race a success for community fund-raising group. On a dry Bank Holiday afternoon with a fast flowing river, more than 750 yellow ducks were released into the River Tean by Cheadle Lions as they ran their annual fundraising Duck Race. After a swift but competitive race all ducks safely reached the finishing line. The main results were as follows: First Place No 74 A Pitt, Second Place - No 602 J Hare, and Third Place - No 401 J Crampton.
The last duck home was No 595 E Harris.
Lions member Tony Gadsby said: “We would like to thank all those who bought or sold tickets.
“More than £600 was raised which will be used to support the club’s charitable work.”
A full list of results is available on request from Tony by calling 0845 833 4991.
Cheadle Lions meet on the first Tuesday of every month at 8pm at The Swan at Town End in Cheadle.
