£30k aim for NHS fund-raising gin

By timesecholife on in All News, Uttoxeter news

A DISTILLERY near Uttoxeter is aiming to raise £30,000 to mark the 72nd birthday of the NHS. Nelson’s Distillery, based at Grindley Business Village, has already raised more than £25,000 for the Covid-19 fund through sales of its blue ‘charity’ gin.

The Hats Off To Our Heroes gin was created to raise funds for the health service as it responded to the coronavirus crisis. A moment of silence will be held on Sunday, July 5 to mark 72 years of the NHS and will be followed by a final national clap to thank all those who work within the service.

The ‘national moment’ will be an opportunity for the entire UK to honour the NHS, and reflect on how it has served people in times of national and individual crisis. Nelson’s founder, Neil Harrison, will be live-streaming a special NHS Birthday Cocktail through Nelson’s Distillery & School Facebook page immediately after the clap.

A spokesman for the company said: “We would like the entire Nelson’s community to join us on Sunday in raising a glass to our fantastic National Health Service. We want to see a sea of Blue Gin across our social media timelines. We are still selling our Hats Off To Our Heroes Charity Blue Gin in aid of the NHS, but now in two varieties.

“Both items will see donations made directly to the NHS Charities Together COVID-19 Fund. “We have just raised over £25,000 and with your help, we aim to reach our goal of £30,000 by the NHS’ 72nd Birthday!”
