CONTROVERSIAL plans for a housing development in Cheadle will be put before planners tomorrow.
The proposal for 39 homes on open land near The Birches has been recommended for approval, despite concerns over traffic and loss of open space.
Officers at Staffordshire Moorlands District Council referred the application by Moorlands Homes (Cheadle) to the planning committee as ‘it is a locally contentious major development’.
The 1.53 hectare site is bordered by The Birches, Birchwood Grove, The Poplars and The Gawbutts as well as the buildings and playing fields of The Cheadle Academy.
The application for full planning permission for a 39-home development follows an outline application for 60 homes which was approved in December 2015.
However, approval was never actually granted as a legal document outlining developer contributions was never signed.
