THE annual Cheadle Spring 5 road race, on Sunday, March 4, is now just a few weeks away.
The five-mile race is staged by Cheadle Running Club and was held for the first time in 2000, replacing the Spring 6, which had been held for the previous 10 years.
The event never fails to attract top athletes from all over the Midlands and the North, providing some memorable races.
Course records are held by Tom Humphries, who clocked 23:39 in 2014, and Michelle Ross-Cope whose ladies time of 28:09 recorded back in 2006 has still yet to be bettered.
