PLANS to build 118 homes on land between the A50 and Draycott level have been approved by Staffordshire Moorlands District Council (SMDC).
The land to the south east of the A521 will see 118 dwellings, new access and internal roads, parking and play space.
The plans were first submitted to SMDC on July 28 last year, but approval wasn’t granted until Thursday last week.
The application, by St Modwen Homes was described as “a disaster” by objectors to the proposals.
The decision went against popular opinion which cited heavy traffic around the roundabout at the junction of the A521 and the A50 as one of the main reasons to object to the plan.
Commenting on the proposals, Lee Warburton from Draycott said: “The submission of this application is a disaster not only for the road network, but also for the nature within the boundaries. How on earth access can be granted for vehicles to access this site is beyond belief.
