VILLAGERS are set to celebrate the re-opening of a popular pub.
The Auctioneers Arms, in Caverswall, was bought by locals and will be run as a community initiative.
The pub, affectionately known as ‘The Knocks’, has been completely refurbished as part of a two-year project led by volunteers and is set to open its doors again on Saturday, May 19.
The venue, which will also become a coffee shop, features a new lounge area, kitchen and bar, while toilets along with all plumbing and electrics have been given a revamp.
Paul Roberts, chairman of Caverswall Parish Council, has been helping the volunteer group.
He said: “Myself and all members of the parish council are delighted that the Auctioneers Arms is to reopen soon, especially as a community pub.
