AN ice-skater from Blythe Bridge has overcome disability to land two gold medals in her first competitive event.
Vicki Smart, who is visually impaired, won two events at the British Inclusive Championships in Glasgow last week – and was third in another.
The 28-year-old, who lives in Catchems Corner, only took up the sport at i-Skate, in Uttoxeter, six years ago.
She said: “Competing at the championships was a wonderful experience and it was fantastic to win two gold medals.
“It was daunting as it was my first-ever competitive event and there were skaters there from all over the UK.
