28th August 2017
Leigh are hosting their annual produce show in the Village Hall in Church Leigh on Monday 28th August. The show can trace its origins back 130 years to 1877 when, for the first time, villagers exhibited their locally grown produce and local crafts. Nowadays villagers show off their garden produce as well as their baking and creative skills. There are also lots of classes for children. Entry to classes is for Leigh Parish residents only, but all are welcome to visit the show from 2.30pm until 4pm. There will be cake, craft and plant stalls and teas served throughout the afternoon. Entry is 40p for adults, children free.
1st August 2017 to 29th August 2017
Staff and volunteers at RSPB Coombes Valley Nature Reserve, near Leek, are inviting families to join them every Tuesday in August. Each week’s event will have a different theme so families can participate in new activities each time they visit. These drop-in events kick off on Tuesday 1st August with an amphibian theme, followed by bugs, birds, and then wildflowers and trees, on subsequent weeks. As the autumn term looms, the final Wild Tuesday on 29th August will celebrate all things nature and will be a free event, forming part of the Play Wild Partnership project, sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
