Those with a taste for cider will be in their element as The Huntsman pub is set to host its annual Cider Festival. Taking place over the bank holiday weekend, the summer festival promises a weekend of tasty cider, good music and fantastic food. And this year, they are focusing on mixing things up. Usually offering around 11 or 12 traditional scrumpies and perries, for 2017, the festival will retain a few of the old favourites and introduce some new ones, including fruity ciders and less-traditional brews, in addition to the usual speciality ales served. Ranging from four per cent to seven per cent, the range of ciders on offer will tickle anybody’s fancy. As for the live music, headlining on the Friday will be Moorlands band, South Bound. Saturday’s live music comes from Bullet, while on the Sunday, festival goers will be entertained by Cherry Groove. The Cider Festival will be taking place at The Huntsman, The Green, Cheadle from 25th to 27th August.
1st August 2017 to 29th August 2017
Staff and volunteers at RSPB Coombes Valley Nature Reserve, near Leek, are inviting families to join them every Tuesday in August. Each week’s event will have a different theme so families can participate in new activities each time they visit. These drop-in events kick off on Tuesday 1st August with an amphibian theme, followed by bugs, birds, and then wildflowers and trees, on subsequent weeks. As the autumn term looms, the final Wild Tuesday on 29th August will celebrate all things nature and will be a free event, forming part of the Play Wild Partnership project, sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
