Biker killed in tragic crash

A MOTORCYCLIST has sadly passed away after being involved in a road traffic collision in the Moorlands. Martin Baxter, aged 50 from Stoke-on-Trent, died on the morning of Saturday, January 12 at Royal Stoke University Hospital after he and his motorbike were involved in a road traffic collision in Draycott, near Blythe Bridge, the previous evening.

Staffordshire Police confirmed that at around 5.15pm on Friday, January 11, the force were called to reports of a collision involving a red Kawasaki motorcycle and a grey Audi A5 outside the Chandni Cottage restaurant heading towards the A50.
A spokesman for West Midlands Air Ambulance said: “We were called at just before 5.15pm on Friday, January 11, to a road traffic collision at the junction of Woodlands Lane and Uttoxeter Road.
“One ambulance, two paramedic officers, two basics emergency doctors and a critical care car from the Air Ambulance based at Tatenhill attended.
“On arrival crews found a road traffic collision involving a car and a motorcyclist.
“The male motorcyclist was given advanced trauma care at the scene.
“He was in a serious condition and was taken, on blue lights, to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for emergency care.”
Staffordshire Police have confirmed that Mr Baxter sadly died at the Royal Stoke University Hospital on Saturday morning from his injuries.
Specialist officers are supporting Mr Baxter’s family at this time and have asked for privacy at this difficult time.
Staffordshire Police are now appealing for any witnesses to the collision, or anyone who may have seen the vehicles beforehand, to contact them.
PC Matt Lovatt, from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This is a well-used road and I would ask motorists who may have dash cam footage or witnessed the collision to contact us.”
